We are renowned for our high participation levels in a wide range of sporting codes.
The school offers opportunities for all students to participate in sports, from beginner teams focused on skill development to teams competing in Super 8 and national competitions. In addition to promoting enjoyment and well-being, sport teaches valuable life skills such as leadership, teamwork, commitment, discipline, goal setting, and striving for personal excellence. Every student is encouraged to challenge themselves, try new activities, and do their best.
Annual senior fixtures with Wellington College, Wairarapa College, and Scots College, along with junior exchanges with Palmerston North Boys’ High School (Polson Banner), Gisborne Boys’ High School, and Tauranga Boys’ College, contribute to a full sports calendar. Overseas development tours are also an integral part of our programme. These events provide our athletes with valuable exposure to national-level competitors, teams, and selectors. Kukri Sports Apparel proudly sponsors our sporting programme.
Each year, at least a dozen students represent New Zealand in various sports. The ongoing success of our top athletes reflects the quality of our coaching and the competitive environment at the school. As a New Zealand Super Eight school, we showcase our talent and tradition against leading boys’ only state schools in the central and upper North Island.
Annual senior fixtures with Wellington College, Wairarapa College and Scots College, as well as junior exchanges with Palmerston North Boys’ High School (Polson Banner), Gisborne Boys’ High School and Tauranga Boys’ College, round out a busy sports calendar. Overseas development tours are also seen as an integral part of our sports programme. These competitions, exchanges, and tours give our athletes a sporting advantage not available locally by providing exposure to competitors, teams, and selectors at a national level. Kukri Sports Apparel is a proud sponsor of our sporting programme.
