Most international students prefer to live with a local New Zealand family, which is a fantastic way to fully immerse oneself in Kiwi culture and daily family life. While our host families all have different backgrounds, interests, and lifestyles, they are all united by a common goal: providing a safe, welcoming, and caring home environment. Our International Manager personally selects and rigorously vets every host, ensuring they meet strict quality regulations and hold a strong connection to our school or the wider community. This meticulous process ensures our boys are placed in warm, hospitable homes where they feel entirely safe, supported, and genuinely integrated into the family.

For students seeking a different environment, Napier Boys’ High School is home to Scinde House, the largest on-site school boarding hostel in New Zealand. Established in 1885 and accommodating 190 young men, Scinde House is a modern, vibrant, and exceptionally managed facility. Boarding offers distinct advantages. The structured daily routine is highly beneficial for developing self-management, while the close-knit community offers boys a unique opportunity to live alongside their peers. Additionally, living on campus provides ultimate convenience, offering effortless, immediate access to sports training, cultural practices, and games right after class.
